There’s a lot of what may seem ‘simple’ things to do when applying for a mortgage; like saving documents as a PDF & retrieving tax overviews – that can end up taking way too much time.
We have put together a few guides below that explain how to do these said tasks, which will hopefully save both you and us time; enabling your mortgage application to get underway as quickly as possible.
How to get your SA302's and Tax Year Calculations:
- Go to HMRC website and sign in. You will need your Government Gateway credentials to sign in.
- Click 'Self Assessment' from your HMRC account homepage.
- Click 'Get your SA302 Tax Calculation' and 'Continue to your SA302'.
- Print your full calculation.
Print and Save your Tax Year Overview as a PDF file. That’s it! Not sure how to save a file as a PDF? Click here.
To get your Tax Year Overviews:
- Go to HMRC website and sign in.
- Click 'Self Assessment' from your HMRC account homepage.
- Click 'View your Tax Year Overview'.
- Print your Tax Year Overview.
How to save your documents as a PDF:
Lenders and brokers alike prefer all documents in PDF format, if you’re not sure how to do this, then it could seem tricky. Follow the instructions below to do it in seconds.
- Open the page that you want to save as a PDF.
- Go to print the document. Either 'File & Print', or just Print; depending on the device you're using.
- Navigate to the section where you would normally select your printer.
- Change the 'Print Destination' to 'Save as PDF'.
- Press 'Save' and then select where to save the file to.
The document is now saved as a PDF file in your chosen location. If you’re still slightly unsure, click here to view a screenshot of what the user interface should look like.

A mortgage fee payable is dependent on the complexity of the case and will be agreed at the outset. A fee of up to 1% of the loan amount is payable, for example on a £100,000 mortgage a 1% fee would equate to £1,000. A typical fee is £299 and is payable at the outset or on the issue of an offer of the mortgage.
